Moon Jar Film is a Berlin-based production company, founded by Domenico Distilo and Kai Ehlers in 2017. Moon Jar Film produces feature documentaries and fictious short films for a European and international market.
Domenico Distilo and Kai Ehlers, both graduated directors, have been working as authors, directors, and producers on successful documentary films. They founded Moon Jar Film in order to combine their expertise in future projects with their different cultural backgrounds. The objective as authors originating from two European countries is to develop and produce documentaries and fiction films, reflecting on the consciousness achievement of the European idea using specific historical and cultural backgrounds of both Italy and Germany. Their latest documentaries, coproduced by Moon Jar Film are “Free State Midpoint”, a feature-length documentary which premiered at Hamburg Documentary Film Festival in April 2019, was given the ranking „exceptionally valuable“ by the German Film Assessement Board and is currently prepared for its theatrical release, and “Manga Do, Igort and the way of Manga”, audience award winner at the Biografilm festival 2018 and distributed in theaters in Germany and Italy, which will be available on DVD soon.
